It's been a week of catch-ups, fortunately, because the jobseeking is driving me crazy.
Firstly it was Shashma and Heidi (who claims to read the blog. We'll see. This is another mention.).
Fortunately for us (not sure how I swung this) both catch-ups were in Angel... Easy walking distance home.
Anyway, that's all I am going to say about any of them because they all specifically mentioned the blog and asked not be be included.
Highlight of the week thus far has been the Hadrian exhibit at the British Museum. Check the video out. You may/should recognise the awesome voice of the narrator.
I'll give you a hint:
Here's something that I am going to make tremendous use of once our lives finally normalise: we are within easy walking distance of both the British Museum and the British Lie-berry. And they're both free! Outstanding.
I will finally be able to take my nerdly pursuits to the next level. The highest level.
Oh!
And just in front of the museum is this games shop. We went in and the shopkeeper was telling someone to try another store down the road.
James and I both independently thought of this:
Suffice to say. Our newest/only favourite games shop.
So it was James's birthday yesterday.
To celebrate, HSBC decided to do the job they were supposed to do two weeks ago and send him out a pin for our UK bank card.
This pin was the last thing we needed to get our first one of these:
Anyway, it doesn't matter. It was James's birthday and he got an iphone. Which he managed to find uses for in every conversation at last night's party at Abbie and Tan's place.
Seriously. Every conversation. There was some wikipedia action, a bit of facebook, google maps, you name it.
Nerd. Happy, happy nerd.
Note that it was also good to catch up with Shashma (friend from high school) after spending my first two weeks in London successfully avoiding her. In fact, I can say it was really shit catching up with Shashma because she told me last night she never reads blogs and is scared of them like a whiny little girl.
We're catching up with some prospective flatmates at a pub that could be my new local this afternoon. The weather is rubbish for it... Hopefully that doesn't sway the judges opinion of us because I really want this house. It's on a street that looks like the sort of place Captain Cook would have lived. (Even though he wasn't from London -he was born in Yorkshire but is best known in Whityby. Now who's the nerd?)
I'm too scared to look for more flats today because I am afraid it might jinx these 'potential flatmate' drinks. The process of securing a room in a share house is difficult and stressful, with multiple stages and events -like Miss America but for ugly people.
The other reason not to is that it's carnival today. If we find a place they may want us to come look at it... During the biggest street carnival in Europe. Pfff. Pass.
However, I will look for jobs. You never know.
